SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida man faces first-degree murder charges after authorities say he fatally shot his wife, and then apparently posted a photo of her dead body on Facebook.
Miami-Dade police report that 31-year-old Derek Medina turned himself in Thursday, telling them he had shot 26-year-old Jennifer Alfonso in their South Miami home after she said she was leaving him, they got into an argument and she punched him.
A post on a Facebook page identified as Medina's says, "I'm going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife."
The post claims that his wife was punching him and that he wasn't going to stand any more abuse. The photo was up for more than five hours before Facebook took it down late Thursday afternoon.
