TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott is backing a proposed bong ban and an abortion measure.
Scott on Wednesday signed 14 bills into law. One of the bills (HB 49) would make it illegal for shops to "knowingly and willfully" sell marijuana pipes known as "bongs" for use to consume illegal drugs.
The wording of the bill has led some to question if the devices could still be sold if the expressed purpose was to smoke tobacco.
Scott also signed a bill (HB 1129) that requires medical care for newborns who survive botched abortions.
The legislation would penalize abortion providers who don't provide medical care for infants born alive despite attempted abortions.
Scott also signed a bill aimed at limiting medical malpractice lawsuits (SB 1792).
