WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say the ex-husband of a South Florida school nurse found dead in a sugar cane field has died in Miami.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said Sunday that Albert Lambert would have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kimberly Lindsey.
Authorities tell The Palm Beach Post that Lambert died of a drug overdose at a residence he owned in Miami, where Lindsey's blood was found on his clothing.
Lindsey's West Palm Beach school reported her missing early last week. Her body was found days later in Hendry County.
Bradshaw says his office put Lambert under 24-hour surveillance after Lindsey's body was found and the missing person case became a homicide investigation.
Lindsey and Lambert divorced in February. The couple had three daughters.
