TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) --New bridge and walkways provide link between trails in Tallahassee.
Citizens will soon enjoy a bird's eye view of Tallahassee, bridging the gap between two popular parks. The Canopy Walkway in Lafayette Heritage Trail Park, will open at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4. Local residents are invited to pull on their hiking boots or hop on their mountain bikes for a fun afternoon on the trail.
The Canopy Walkway provides a safe connection over the CSX railroad tracks between the City's Lafayette Heritage Trail Park and Leon County's J.R. Alford Greenway. Previously, there was no official, designated trail connection in this area, causing many trail visitors to use an unofficial, unsafe, at-grade crossing over the railroad tracks.
The Canopy Walkway in Lafayette Heritage Trail Park can be accessed from the park entrance, located at 49000 Heritage Park Blvd.
