DELTONA, Fla. (AP) - A 31-year-old reputed gang member is charged with the second-degree murder of his wife, whose body hasn't been found.
Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson says Luis Toledo told deputies on Monday that he struck a deathblow to Yessenia Suarez' throat during an argument.
Suarez and her children, 8-year-old Michael Otto and 9-year-old Thalia Otto, were last seen a week ago. The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1f1fZ7r ) reports officials believe the children are also dead, but their bodies haven't been found after six days of searching. Toledo denied involvement their deaths, implicating someone else.
Family members told investigators Suarez planned to leave Toledo, but said their violent arguments had not been reported to authorities. Davidson says the "conflict apparently came to a head" last Tuesday.
The search for their bodies continues.
