TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Construction will open new travel pattern in Tallahassee. The intersection of Gaines Street, Stadium Drive and Lake Bradford Road is set to become more accessible for motorists. On Monday and Tuesday, a contractor will begin work to alter medians in the intersection. The work will open up north/south travel from Stadium Drive onto Lake Bradford Road.
To safely accommodate construction on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 17-18, there will be lane closures in the area between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Monday's closures will include single lane shifts affecting eastbound and westbound traffic on Stadium Drive. Tuesday's closures will include a single lane shift affecting northbound traffic on Lake Bradford Road.
Following the work on the medians, crews will reconfigure lights and signal timing at the intersection. Once the signal work is complete, the new north/south pattern will be opened to traffic. This should occur by March 15.
This construction is part of preliminary work for Phase III of the Gaines Street project, which is slated to begin March 1.
