VENICE - A Venice landmark will get a second chance, after city council members voted Monday night to keep the historic Circus Arena standing.

City council members voted 4-to-3 to partially tear down the structure, but keeping the steel beams in place.

The group trying to save the arena is happy with the decision and says it buys them more time to repair it. They have big plans for its future. “We would then have the steel superstructure that is kind of Eiffel Tower-esque. It’s gonna be incredible. We’ll paint it, we will hope to have temporary canopies over it. We will have all types of events in it," says Orlando Bevington of the Venice Circus Arts Foundation.

The foundation also hopes to restore the Gunther Gebel-Williams building on site, where the legendary performer trained animals.
