BRADENTON, Fla. - Manatee County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man who they say threatened his roommate with a knife and then punched a police dog.

It happened Early Tuesday morning at the home of Jason Pierce and Richard Botek at the 2100 block of 26th Avenue East.   According to deputies, Pierce was sleeping in a chair when Botek began punching him.  Botek was allegedly still upset over a previous argument the two men had.  Pierce was able to get away from Botek and run from the home.  Botek reportedly chased after Pierce with a knife.

Pierce ran to nearby Manatee Glens and called for help.  Deputies arrived on scene and began searching for Botek using a K-9 officer.  When the K-9 found him and bit him, he began punching the dog.  Botek was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, battery, and battery on a police K-9.
