MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) - A Florida woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for manipulating her son to kill his father.
Florida Today reports that 54-year-old Sharon Myers was sentenced last week. She was convicted of manslaughter in May.
Myers’ son, Darryl Kenney, and his friend, Rubin Nero, are serving life sentences for the June 2008 murder in Merritt Island. Kenney met Nero while in prison, and they killed Kenney’s father, 50-year-old husband Gary Kenney, shortly after being released.
Investigators found hundreds of letters Myers wrote to her son while he was in prison, saying she and his sister were abused, and she wanted Gary Kenney to die.
