OCALA, Fla. (AP) — An Ocala woman has died some six weeks after a Christmas Day shooting that also killed her husband.
Officials say 55-year-old Mary Lou Hutson died Thursday afternoon at an Ocala hospital. Detectives say she was shot twice by 18-year-old Preston Daniel Pollard, who was the estranged boyfriend of an 18-year-old woman living in the home. Richard Hutson died at the scene shortly after midnight on Dec. 25.
The Ocala Star-Banner (http://bit.ly/1E73Zxf ) reports the ex-girlfriend and three children ages 17, 15 and 12 hid in the bathroom before fleeing to a neighbor's house.
Pollard drove from his home Venus, Texas, just before the shooting. He fatally shot himself hours later after authorities spotted him driving on Interstate 10.
