LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) A member of a Florida teachers union is suing the Governor over a new piece of legislation.
Tom Faasse, a social studies teacher at East Lee County High School in Lehigh Acres, is suing Governor Rick Scott over Senate Bill 850. Passed on the final day of the 2014 Florida legislative session, S.B. 850 expanded corporate vouchers schools.
Faasse is a member of the Florida Educators Association, one of the state's largest unions. He says he feels the bill was purposefully introduced at the end of session, in an effort to push it through with minimal resistance from the public.
