TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida's Surgeon General is commending the decision by CVS Caremark to remove tobacco products from its CVS Pharmacy locations.
State Surgeon General and Department of Health Secretary Dr. John Armstrong praised the move, in a statement released Wednesday.
“I want to congratulate CVS Caremark for today’s bold decision that will lead to better health," said Armstrong. "Removing cigarettes from their more than 700 locations in Florida is welcome news for the families and communities of our state. I urge other retailers to follow suit and invest in the long term health of their customers and employees in Florida.”
CVS Caremark announced on Wednesday that it plans to remove all tobacco related products from its shelves by as soon as October. The announcement also received praise from President Obama.
