TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Supreme Court is admitting a key piece of evidence in the ongoing redistricting trial.
The high court overturned a previous appeals court decision that denied admitting documents obtained by a political consulting firm. But the court added that the courtroom must be closed when documents are shown to Judge Terry Lewis.
Groups suing the Florida Legislature say the documents prove lawmakers drew up political maps in ways that benefit Republicans. Attorneys for the Legislature deny any wrongdoing.
If the court comes down against the maps, the Legislature could be forced to redraw them.
