TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) Students from Florida State University and the University of Florida are finding common ground on the issue of tuition for veterans.
Student leaders from both universities will hold a news conference on Tuesday, February 11 at 10:00 a.m. in the fourth floor of the capitol rotunda, to support legislation granting in-state tuition to veterans.
The Congressman C.W. Bill Young Veteran Tuition Waiver Program would allow student-veterans to receive in-state tuition rates at any of Florida’s public colleges or universities. Florida would be one of 20 states that have already provided in-state benefits to veterans pursuing a college degree.
In Tallahassee, the effort to build campus support for the legislation has been spearheaded by students from Florida State’s Collegiate Veterans Association and Student Government Association.
