TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State University students took part in a decades-old tradition Monday night.
Seniors got handed their rings by President John Thrasher. The students then waited until 6:51 p.m. to dip their rings into Westcott Fountain. 6:51 in military time is 18:51, the year FSU was founded.
"FSU is deep in tradition and just to be part of any tradition I can be is awesome," said FSU senior Austin Boam. "Part of this is, you know, you don't get a lot of time to interact with the president of a lot of universities so the fact that [President Thrasher] took the time to do this is awesome.
The seniors who dipped their rings Monday will graduate this May.
