HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Three Florida siblings have been arrested after beating their grandparents up over money.
Angel Mariani, 23, Monique Mariani, 21, and their 17-year-old sister were arrested by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
On Dec. 21, deputies were called to a home in reference to multiple batteries that had just taken place. When they arrived, they found three people who had sustained various injuries from the siblings.
The siblings' grandfather, who was one of the victims, said the three were living in a tent in the backyard of his home.
Throughout the day, the grandfather had given his two granddaughters some money, so when Angel found out, he approached his grandfather and demanded money.
When his grandfather refused, witnesses say Angel began punching his grandfather multiple times.
A short time later Angel, along with his sister, Monique, approached their grandmother in an attempt to confront their grandfather, who was hiding inside a shed.
When the grandmother asked them to leave, deputies say Angel and Monique began punching and kicking her. Another individual tried to intervene but was also hit by Angel.
Angel then made his way to the shed where he was able to force his way inside and vandalized various items, according to deputies.
Angel, Monique, and the 17-year-old sibling, who had an active warrant, fled the home prior to law enforcement’s arrival. When deputies were able to find the three siblings, Angel gave a false name and tried to run away.
The two sisters were arrested at the scene.
Following a short chase, Angel was tased when he continued to be combative with deputies trying to arrest him. Once in custody, Angel continued to make threats of violence toward all deputies present.
All three were taken to the Hernando County Detention Center.
Angel is facing multiple charges including domestic battery and assault on a person 65 or older.
Monique is being charged with battery on a person 65 or older, while the 17-year-old sibling is being charged with failure to appear on an active warrant out of Hernando County.
