TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Florida Sheriffs Association is speaking out after a former NRA lobbyist says the group is squashing second amendment rights.
In an interview with guns.com, Marrion Hammer is quoted as saying: "The Florida Sheriffs Association tried to kill House Bill 89, the so-called 'warning shot bill,' but failed. They pulled out all the stops on the mandatory evacuation bill. Make no mistake, the Florida Sheriffs Association has declared war on the second amendment."
Officials from the Sheriffs Association responded to her allegations on Monday, and say she couldn't be more wrong.
"I can tell you this Florida sheriffs are team players to protect the Second Amendment and I am outraged, I'm not mad, I'm outraged that she would say such, because it is just absolutely not true," said Sheriff Grady Judd, president of the Florida Sheriffs Association.
