TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Senate is moving forward with a bill that has caused controversy among the state's craft breweries.
The bill underwent some late changes today, over concerns that it could hurt Florida's breweries. The legislation would allow the sale of half-gallon beer "growlers," containers currently legal in 47 states but not Florida.
But restrictions added to the legislation are drawing the ire of craft brewers, who say the bill will ultimately hurt their business. The legislation would allow bottle and can sales at breweries, but the sales cannot compromise more than 20 percent of total beer production.
The Florida Brewers Guild opposes the legislation, because it would add new sales limits where none currently exist.
