Tallahassee, FL (#WTXLdigital) -- Florida was rated the scariest state in America... Yes, Florida, the Sunshine State and home of the happiest place on earth was ranked the most frightening by Estately, a real estate blog.

It was followed by none other then Georgia, which was placed as the second scariest state in the U.S. by the online survey.

Theoretically that would make the Tallahassee and Thomasville area the most fearsome and horrifying region in the United States.

Which according to Forbes back in 2011, Tallahassee is actually the 8th most dangerous city in America.

But if you dig a little deeper into these claims you might decide Tallahassee isn't as terrible these websites make it seem.

Estately used fifteen common fears and ranked each state from 1-50 on a scale of most scary to least scary. The fears included a range anywhere from murders, bears, meth labs, and clowns.

The data used to determine these frightening factors was sourced on solely the amount of that fearful item in each state, not the amount of incidents.

For example, the category of dentists was ranked by number of "active dentists per capita". Personally, I don't think that's something to be too afraid. (And just in case you were wondering, Massachusetts has the most dentists.)

Florida gets its top spot on the list due to being number 1 in the categories of hurricanes, shark attacks, and tornadoes.

"The most dangerous state in America is the most likely place to experience a real life Sharknado. Or even a Sharkicane..." was the blogs statement on Florida.

The state also got ranked 3rd for lightning and 5th for spiders.

Forbes' danger claims seems more credible, using the FBI's uniform crime report to determine its findings and discovered that Tallahassee has 775 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

The article also stated the "location on Interstate 10 makes it an attractive city for drug runners who bring contraband north from Miami and the surrounding area." However, it did not include any information to back up that claim.

How do YOU feel about Tallahassee? Do you think it's the scariest place ever or are these rankings bogus?
