TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) Florida's unemployment rate registered a slight increase in March.

The state's jobless ranks increased by 17,000 to a total of 606,000.  The latest numbers present a setback for Florida, following February's rate that led the nation in job creation.

Florida was one of 17 states that saw an increase in joblessness during March.  21 states saw a decline in unemployment.

Job creation is a linchpin issue of the Florida gubernatorial race, with Governor Rick Scott using touting recent job growth as proof that his policies are superior to those of former Florida Governor, and current Democratic challenger, Charlie Crist.
