TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A pro-gun rally is set for Sunday in the Capital City.
The event is posted on Facebook and more than 100 people have already marked that they'll be attending.
According to a press release sent out from the group, the rally will take place Sunday, March 4.
Organizers say they are taking a stand and telling legislators that it's time to "stop trampling on the constitution and the rights."
"In the wake of the devastating mass murder at a Parkland, FL high school; Florida Lawmakers including Governor Rick Scott in a knee jerk reaction have initiated several new Gun Laws that not only chip away at the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, but also at the 4th Amendment," organizers wrote in the press release.
They assert that law enforcement failed the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School by failing to act when they were notified multiple times about 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz.
Organizers say Florida Senate Bill 7026 provides a "slippery slope" for gun owners that could easily be abused.
"By disarming law abiding citizens and adding further restrictions to the right to defend one’s self these politicians are only making it easier for those who are already going to break the law, to do so while leaving law abiding citizens defenseless," organizers wrote. "Together, we stand and march for our right to bear arms!"
Organizers stress that this is not an open carry rally, however, if you are able to concealed carry legally, you are encouraged to do so.
The rally will start at the Old Capitol at 11 a.m. on Sunday and will go until 4 p.m.
