(WTXL) - Florida ranks eighth in states with the worst drivers, after being number one in 2017.
Florida still has the lowest rate of insured drivers in the country at 73 percent and only ranks behind Alabama in fatality rates.
According to SmartAsset.com, they took into account a total of four metrics when coming up with their rankings:
- the percent of drivers with insurance
- number of DUIs per driver
- average number of deaths per miles driven
- how often residents google terms like traffic ticket or speeding ticket
Mississippi was ranked number one this year for the state with the worst drivers.
According SmartAsset, the top 10 states with the worst drivers were:
- Mississippi
- Tennessee
- California
- Missouri
- New Mexico
- Texas
- Alabama
- Florida
- Alaska
- Arizona
