Florida Prepaid College Plans Sell Record Number During Enrollment Period

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - According to the Florida Prepaid College Board, a record number of Florida families bought prepaid college plans during this year's open enrollment.

They say families purchased more than 42,000 plans and that they haven't sold that many since the 2007-2008 open enrollment period.

This comes after the prices dropped substantially, thanks to state legislation passed in 2014 that helps control future fee increases at state universities in Florida.

This year, prices of the most popular college prepaid plans were almost half the cost of last year's prices.
