SOUTH BAY, Fla. (AP) — Two power company workers have been killed after a dirt road apparently gave way under their truck, which toppled into a Palm Beach County canal.
The Florida Highway Patrol identified the two Florida Power & Light workers as 36-year-old Nicholas Pflaum and 45-year-old Christopher Garcia. They were on an assignment near South Bay early Saturday when the accident happened.
FPL said in a statement the two were high voltage line specialists. Family members told the SunSentinel (http://bit.ly/1RPK4gQ ) they were also best friends. Pflaum's wife said her husband was working overtime to pay for an upcoming trip to Paris.
The area was under a dense fog advisory when the accident happened. The Highway Patrol said the cause remains under investigation
