TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - Law enforcement officers from across the region are in Tallahassee to brush up on their training. The public safety institute kicked off their 6th annual Instructor Training conference this week.

Over 200 officers from Florida and Georgia are coming together to learn about new equipment, procedures, and techniques. The conference allows officers the chance to get active training. They're able to learn about the latest police techniques and equipment by using it right there at the institute. Some courses offered this year included street combat shooting techniques and body language for officer survival.

The conference began on Sunday and the closing ceremony is Friday. The public safety institute is one of about 30 academies in the state of Florida that offers this type of training.
