Trooper hit by car on Florida's Turnpike, suspect at large

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Highway Patrol is trying to track down the driver of a white BMW 6 Series who ran over a trooper on Florida's Turnpike.

According to WPLG, the hit-and-run incident happened on the afternoon of May 25 on the exit ramp of Florida's Turnpike near Hollywood Boulevard.

In the video, the trooper, identified as Trooper Arsenio Caballero, was crossing the street in front of the BMW when the driver took off, hitting the trooper and fleeing the scene. Another trooper was talking to the driver of the BMW just before the hit-and-run.

WPLG reports that Trooper Caballero was treated for cuts and reportedly suffered a broken wrist.

The car was later found abandoned and the driver has not been found. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
