(WTXL) — A new study says the No.1 stereotype associated with the State of Florida is “old people."

A team at AreaVibes surveyed Americans on State Stereotypes and found some surprising findings for Florida.

Despite the rumors that Floridians grow up next door to Disney, are accustomed to 90 degree heat and live alongside gators, the study found that "old people" were most often thought of first when the people surveyed thought about the Sunshine State.

Along with older people and beaches, Florida ranked as the state most commonly associated with Disney World, crazy people, and alligators.

The "old people" stereotype even beat out the beach parties in Panama City, gators and the infamous "Florida Man" headlines.

The one thing America did get right was selecting oranges as the top food associated with Florida.

When it comes to Georgia, Americans most often thought of peaches, racism, and heat.
