Police confirm that the remains found in Alabama on Nov. 12 are those of missing 5-year-old Taylor Williams.
The 5-year-old girl's mother, Brianna Shontae Williams, was arrested last week and charged with child neglect and giving false information to investigators after authorities found the remains in Demopolis, Alabam. Demopolis is about 100 miles west of Montgomery.
Williams was reported missing from her Jacksonville home on Nov. 6., but detectives said her mother Brianna stopped cooperating with investigators after being questioned about inconsistencies in her story. Charges against her have not been upgraded at this point, investigators say.
An AMBER Alert for Williams has been canceled. Taylor's cause of death has not been released.
Williams was booked into the Duval County Jail last week following nine days in the hospital, where she was treated for an apparent overdose.
