(WTXL) — Need something to do this weekend that, of course, involves social distancing? This weekend is a free saltwater fishing weekend in Florida.
On Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, individuals without a saltwater fishing license, will be able to go fishing with no worries.
License-free fishing days provide an exciting opportunity for those who don't yet have a fishing license to experience fishing with family and friends, without having to purchase a license.
This weekend is part of eight total license-free fishing days the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission offers each year. On these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for all recreational anglers, including both residents and non-residents.
However, all bag limits, closed areas and size restrictions still apply on these dates.
License-free freshwater days
- June 13 and 14, 2020. (Second Saturday and Sunday in June.)
License-free saltwater days

- Sept. 5, 2020. (First Saturday in September.)

The saltwater waiver applies to any recreational harvest requiring a saltwater fishing license (e.g., crabbing, lobstering, scalloping, etc.) as well as fishing from shore or a boat.
