You soon might find python meat on the menu in Florida.
Scientists there are looking at mercury levels in the snakes to determine if they can be safely consumed.
Burmese pythons are extremely invasive species and have posed a serious risk to native wildlife southern Florida.
There's even a contractor program that has already removed 6,000 pythons from the everglades.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the pandemic has slowed down their research. But, if they can determine pythons are safe to eat, it would help control their population.
