Search expands for missing 5-year-old girl in Jacksonville

(WTXL) — The search for missing 5-year-old Taylor Rose Williams has expanded, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office confirmed to First Coast News.

Authorities have issued a Florida Missing Child Alert for 5-year-old Taylor Rose Williams. Around 11:30 a.m., the missing child alert for Williams was officially upgraded to an Amber Alert after she was last seen in the 600 block of Ivy Street around midnight on Wednesday.

A caller told police that the 5-year-old was last seen in her home at around midnight. When the caller work up Wednesday morning, Williams was not in her room and the back door was unlocked. A search is active and on-going at this time.

First Coast News reports the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department is assisting JSO near Paradise Island Apartments, near Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road. JFRD crews were also seen searching the woods nearby.

Wednesday afternoon, authorities brought a pair of boats to the area, dive teams searching a shallow pond in front of the Paradise Island Apartment complex.

She is described as being three feet and weighing 50 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities say Williams was last seen wearing purple and pink pajamas.
