Red-light cameras across the Sunshine State could soon be going away.
On Tuesday, Florida lawmakers will discuss a bill that would ban the practice.
The Senate infrastructure and security committee are schedule to meet at 2 p.m. to consider Senate Bill 622, which was filed by Florida Sen. Jeff Brandes.
Those against the use of the red-light cameras say local governments use them for revenue. However, others argue they help improve traffic safety.
Currently, there are 21 cameras in the city of Tampa, the most in the Tampa Bay area.
Drivers caught running a red light face a $158 fine. More than 87,000 tickets have been given out in Tampa.
The Senate Bill 622 would still need to pass in both the Senate and the House before going to the governor for his signature.
