Florida law enforcement officers to track 'keywords' on social media

Law enforcement officers in Florida will be tracking keywords to monitor your child online.

It's a tool that allows them to suspect a threat.

They're monitoring several social media sites. For example, threats to specific schools would be flagged.

Then notifications would be sent to the district and the school.

"It should be the number one priority in America right now," said Alexander Nicholas. "The more resources they have to collect information the better."

The state is planning to track keywords in five different topics. They include gun, bomb, bullying, mental health and a general category.

This also coordinates with a proposed school safety portal that lets law enforcement coordinate with schools and state leaders.
