PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WTXL) — Three people are dead, including an underage girl after a two-hour stand-off inside of a Port St. Lucie home Monday afternoon.

Port St. Lucie police say the violence was sparked by a neighborhood dispute over the shooting suspect's dog. Police said the dog was recently declared dangerous in court.

When officers responded to the home in the 2500 block of SE Morningside Boulevard for reports of a shooting, they found an injured adult man inside the garage. That man later died from his injuries.

As officers made their way into the home, police say they exchanged gunfire with the suspect.

At least one officer was hurt in the exchange after getting shot in the arm. The officer is expected to be okay.

While inside, officers found a girl, approximately 13 years old, injured inside the home and pulled her to safety. The girl later died at the hospital from her injuries.

After a SWAT team worked their way inside the home, the suspected gunman was found dead inside an upstairs bedroom.

Right now, investigators say it's unclear how the gunman died.

The girl and the adult man found inside the home are believed to be related though police didn't specify how.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
