(WTXL) — Unama'ki, a 2,000 pound and 15 foot long large great white shark, pinged directly south of Tallahassee, according to OCEARCH.

The shark was pinged almost directly south of Tallahassee just a few days ago and was about 100 miles away from Panama City Beach.

"Look where Unama’ki is!" OCEARCH wrote on Facebook. "We don’t usually get white shark pings this far northeast in the Gulf of Mexico."

Unama'ki was tagged September 20th, 2019 near Scaterie Island, Nova Scotia. Researchers say the shark weighs 2,076 pounds and measures 15-feet, 5-inches long.

According to Ocearch, Unama'ki has the potential to lead them to the site where she gives birth and reveal a new white shark nursery.
