BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa Bay area woman has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the death of her 6-week-old daughter.
As part of a deal with Hernando County prosecutors, 27-year-old April Weber was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
Weber was arrested in March 2014 after reporting that she had accidentally dropped her baby, Aubrie Weber, while she was bouncing the infant on her leg. She later admitted to lifting Aubrie by the legs and throwing the infant onto the bed. The infant bounced off the bed and onto the floor. Officials say Weber also threw the baby against a dresser.
The Tampa Tribune (http://goo.gl/czsESR ) reports that the baby was airlifted to a Tampa hospital, where she eventually died.
