PALM BAY, FL, (RNN) – An on-duty Florida police officer was puzzled when he got a text from an unknown number offering to sell him pot.

“Hey Jen lmk if u need any trees,” it read.

The officer responded “?.”

The sender identified himself as Hasan Burke, then helped the officer understand the meaning of the text by including multiple references to “tree” and “bud,” according to the Miami Herald.

They set up a meeting, agreed on a price of $50, and the seller even asked the officer to bring a scale so they could weigh the “bud.” He described himself and said he’d be the guy walking his dog.

Police arrived and sure enough, there was a guy walking his dog, and riding on a skateboard – the only such person in the area. He smelled of marijuana, police said in a Facebook post.  That was plenty of probable cause, so they searched him.

They found 16 grams of marijuana, and when the officer dialed the number the text came from, Burke's phone rang.

They arrested him and put him in the Brevard County Jail.
