ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a central Florida man punched a child in the face because the child wasn't getting ready for church quickly enough.
WKMG reports that 49-year-old Angel Rivera was arrested Sunday and charged with child abuse. Officials didn't list the age of the victim.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office reports that the child was getting ready to go to church with Rivera, but the child was having trouble putting on shoes because of an ankle brace.
Deputies say a door hit the child in the face during a struggle with Rivera, and then Rivera punch the child in the face. The child was taken to a nearby hospital with a black and blue eye.
Rivera was being held on $1,000 bail. Jail records didn't list an attorney.
