TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - State legislators have met the deadline for finalizing the new state budget, but just barely.

A budget totaling nearly $77.1 billion was delivered to lawmakers at 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday evening.  Florida law requires legislators to wait 72 hours before making a final vote.  That places the schedule vote on Friday, the last day of the legislative session.

After being passed by the legislature, the budget will head to the desk of Governor Rick Scott, who has the power to veto individual line items.
