TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles recently released its review of the Florida Highway Patrol's overtime policy and found out that several troopers were not complying.
2 Florida Highway Patrol members that serve the Big Bend with Troops B and H have been subject to an investigation, along with 11 other troopers, that will conducted by the Office of the Inspector General.
The overtime policy also known as the Statewide Overtime Action Response came under scrutiny last year when the Inspector General created an initiative aimed at identifying waste, fraud, and abuse.
The top individuals in each troop that worked the most overtime in 2013-204 were analyzed to see if their timesheet matched when they were actively on patrol.
Of the 36 members evaluates, 15 appeared to be complying and 8 had minor violations that did not need further action. But 13 were alleged to have violated the policy and 8 of those troopers have already been disciplined.
Members from Troops B, H, D, and G. 2 members from Troop C retired as part of a settlement agreement. 2 other members retired while under investigation.
4 of the violations investigations are still on-going at this time. The Office of Inspector General was able to use data from the patrol vehicles that indicated the troopers were not on their post during the times they logged on timesheets.
