FORT MYERS, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Gulf Coast University has just received the biggest donation in the school's history at $10 million dollars.
Coming from renowned educator and textbook author Elaine Marieb the donation will be used to create and support health clinics, faculty development and scholarships.
FGCU announced the gift over the weekend at a special ceremony, as well as the renaming of the college that is housed in Marieb Hall. The college has been re-established as the Elaine Nicpon Marieb College of Health and Human Services.
While this is the largest donation from Marieb it is not her first. In 2012, Marieb made a $5 million gift to the university and Marieb Hall was named in her honor.
