TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (The News Service of Florida) - Florida gas prices went down for the 30th straight day Sunday, and they have dropped twenty cents since Memorial Day, according to Triple A Auto Club.

The average cost for a gallon of gas in the state is now two dollars and 70 cents. The prices are still 50 cents per gallon higher than one year ago, and gas will be at its highest price in three years for Independence Day.

Triple A spokesman W. D. Williams says recent decisions by oil producers in the Middle East should keep the prices dropping.

“OPEC has agreed to increase production recently," Williams explained, "so we expect the price of gasoline to continue to decline for the foreseeable future.”

Florida’s most expensive gas is in Miami and West Palm Beach, where drivers are paying two dollars and 84 cents per gallon. The cheapest gas in the state is in the Tampa Bay area and Orlando, with an average cost of two dollars and sixty cents.
