MILTON, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Milton boater has died after hitting his head on a bridge.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials say John C. Cook, 28, was trying to go under a CSX railroad trestle on his 18-foot Stratos boat when his forehead hit the side of the bridge on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Pensacola News Journal (http://tinyurl.com/p7axf97) reports two other boaters were not injured in the accident along the Blackwater River.
Authorities say alcohol was found on the boat but it's unclear if it played a role in the accident. But they did say the darkness was likely a factor.
