TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Bar's board that recommends whether attorneys gain admission is looking for two people from the general public to serve three-year terms.
The deadline is April 25. The board makes sure attorneys meet requirements such as character and fitness, education and technical competence before they are recommended for admission to the bar. The Florida Supreme Court then makes the final decision.
A bachelor's degree is required, and lawyers are not eligible. Public members of the board should have education or experience in such areas as educational testing, statistics, medicine or psychology. The positions require about three days' work each month and expenses are covered.
Anyone in Florida interested in either of the public member positions should contact the Florida Bar. Information is available on its website: www.floridabar.org
