TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--Florida Governor Rick Scott has ordered flags to fly at half-staff for the troops that were killed after a helicopter crashed off the Florida panhandle coast.
The Louisiana National Guard helicopter was carrying seven marines and four national guard soldiers Tuesday.
Scott's statement reads in part:
"The men and women of our nation's military faithfully serve our country and protect our freedom every day. We join all Floridians, Louisianans, and Americans as we pray for their families and send our sincerest condolences.
As a mark of respect for the service members who lost their lives in the crash, and in conjunction with the State of Louisiana, effective immediately, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida until sunset on Friday, March 20, 2015."
