OCALA, Fla. (AP) — A Florida woman is accused of swindling $14,679 from her 92-year-old friend.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports 59-year-old Vicki Lee Laspina was released on $500 bail Tuesday following her arrest on larceny and fraud charges.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office says Laspina told detectives that while caring for her, she took the woman to a bank in The Villages and was added to her checking account.

According to an arrest report, she identified herself as the victim's daughter. Laspina generated two cashier's checks from the woman's account the next day without her consent.

A bank associated noticed something odd about Laspina's behavior and called the victim. The victim told officials she didn't know she was adding Laspina to her account when they went to the bank.
