TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Lottery keeps breaking sales records for its scratch-off tickets.
Lottery officials on Monday announced that it sold $74 million worth of scratch-off lottery tickets during the week that started March 4. This is the fifth-straight week that the lottery has broken its weekly sales records.
Last week, the Florida Lottery launched a new $20 scratch-off ticket. Lottery officials also held an event at The Villages retirement community in Central Florida.
Florida Lottery officials said the state has joined two other lotteries in New York and Massachusetts where weekly scratch-off sales exceed $70 million. Florida usually sells 60 different types of scratch-off tickets at one time.
The lottery is projected to sell $4.9 billion worth of tickets during the state fiscal year that ends June 30.
