TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - As Florida lawmakers head into the final week of their session, it's clear that they are likely to agree on a $74 billion budget. What's less clear is the fate of Gov. Rick Scott's agenda, including a tax cut for manufacturers and a $2,500 pay raise for school teachers.
Other big items left undecided include bills to help the Miami Dolphins, a revamp of property insurance, a proposal to shut the state pension fund off to new enrollees and whether to provide an alternative to Medicaid expansion.
In a bit of political arm-twisting, Scott suggested he might start vetoing some legislators' pet projects.
Senate President Don Gaetz and House Speaker Will Weatherford sounded hopeful by the end of last week. But with one week to go, success seems elusive.
