STARKE, Fla. (AP)-- The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected the final appeals of a former Florida police officer for the murder of nine people during a series of 1986 robberies.
That clears the way for the state to execute 56-year-old Manuel Pardo on Tuesday. The court's final rejection came about an hour after Pardo's scheduled 6 p.m. execution.
The appeals had centered on Pardo's mental health.
