MIAMI (AP) - Health officials are closing an assisted living facility in Miami where caregivers are accused of tying an elderly woman to a wheelchair.
The Agency for Health Care Administration has also fined the 12-bed San Martin De Porras assisted living facility $20,000. The June order is in response to a February 2012 incident.
The Miami Herald reports inspectors found the woman in the wheelchair. She was being forced to sit on a pressure sore. Reports say the woman was trying to get up but was bound by two belts around her legs and abdomen,
The order gives the facility 30 days to close.
Home administrator testified he "made a mistake" by readmitting the woman who should have been in a more skilled nursing home.
